You are looking at a 2000 P Wide AM Lincoln Cent. This particular cent has been slabbed and graded by NGC. This particular cent has been graded as MS66 Red and is a brilliant bright red. Here are a few basics that I hope will help clear up some confusion over the Wide "AM" and Closed "AM" varieties of these coins. In the early 1990's, the US Mint began using a Wide "AM" design on the reverse of the Lincoln Cent with the hope that this design would be used only for proof coins. The Closed "AM" in turn would be used for all business strike coins. In theory, all Lincoln Cents dated from 1994 and on should have only Wide "AM" designed reverses if they are proofs. As we all know, errors do tend to happen and these Wide "AM" buisness strike coins are the biproduct of the previously mentioned mint mix ups. With the 100th anniversary soon approching the Lincoln cents are really heating up! As I continue to go through my collection, I am becoming more aware that I can't possibly collect everything.
